Mumbai: Maharashtra Congress today demanded a CBI probe into the alleged suicide of Jalgaon police official Ashok Sadare.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson Sachin Sawant said Sadare had named Jalgaon Superintendent of Police Dr Jalinder Supekar, crime branch Police Inspector Prabhakar Rayate and sand contractor Sagar Chaudhari for harassing him.
"This (the harassment) led him to take the extreme step," he said.
Recently, senior police inspector Ashok Sadare of Ramanand Nagar police station in Jalgaon distinct had committed suicide by hanging himself to ceiling fan in his house at Omnagar in Nashik city.
"Even though their names have been mentioned in the suicide note, no action is being taken," Sawant alleged, adding that Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse was quick to clarify that he had no links with Sagar Chaudhari.
"However, there are photographs to prove otherwise.
Chaudhari has been seen in several of Khadse's family functions," Sawant claimed.
"Apart from involvement of senior police officials, there is a political hand in the case and hence we want the probe to be done by the CBI," he added.
Meanwhile, Khadse said Sadare was under suspension for several complaints against him.
"He was involved in extortion. I have nothing to do with the case," the minister said.
