34-yr-old was suffering from depression, owing to a grinding economic crisis
The police are still baffled in their attempts to figure out the reasons that led Sanjay Sen (34), to murder his wife and son, before taking his own life at Park Site near Vikhroli yesterday morning. Preliminary investigations have indicated that Sanjay strangled his wife Puja (31), and son Tejas (2), in the wee hours of the morning.

Sanjay later hung himself from the ceiling fan, at his Anand Gadh residence in Park Site. Sanjay reportedly placed two images of Hindu deities on the bodies of his slain kin. Investigators are probing into a possible occult angle to the case.
Depression
The popular theory in police circles has found a rationale behind Sanjay's actions by attributing it to depression. Sanjay was reportedly in a slump because he was not earning enough from his zari business.u00a0The fact that the family was experiencing grinding economic crisis is indicated by the fact that they did not have money to purchase milk for the past many days, as revealed by neighbours. Sanjay, a migrant from West Bengal, married Puja in 2008.
Both husband and wife were disowned by their respective families, which marginalised them greatly, police sources informed. The couple worked in a garment factory before switching over to the zari business. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Shintre (Zone VII), Sanjay partnered with Mangesh Ambedkar, with whom he shared the premises of the zari factory. The bodies of the victims have been sent for post mortem. Investigators are trying to detect if mother and son were drugged before being slain.
