A Bombay Port Trust (BPT) employee died on his way home last night when a drunken driver in a speeding truck collided with his bike, killing him instantly.
Sanjay Sitaram Kasar (42) was returning home from his office in South Mumbai via Dockyard Road in Mazagaon when the collision took place in front of the BMC-run Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Maternity Home at 10.30 pm.
"He was a good man. He didn't deserve this. We were all at home when we got the call at midnight.
"What will his family do now?" a relative said.
Kasar sustained grievous injuries on his chest and head and was declared dead on arrival at J J Hospital. A Ghatkopar resident, Kasar is survived by his wife and two sons.
Drunken driving
The Byculla police have arrested the truck driver, Jitendra Pandit Shejwad. "We are awaiting his medical tests, but we suspect that it was a case of drunken driving.
"The accused will be produced in court today," said Sub-inspector Kalyan Phulari.
