Multiplexes cut movie ticket prices by 40%

Multiplexes have slashed ticket rates by around 40% to woo in more audiences into cinema halls, reported the Times of India

"Looking at the economic situation, we decided to reduce the ticket prices. Though the rates vary depending on locations and days, we have slashed the prices by 20%,'' said Devang Sampat of Cinemax. "The minimum price will be Rs 70 and the maximum Rs 250."

PVR has also reduced its ticket rates considerably. According to a source, there has been more than 50% slash. Depending on the timing, PVR tickets will now cost anything between Rs 70 and Rs 250, Rs 100 less per ticket.

At G7 multiplex in Bandra, the rate has climbed down by almost 50%. Manoj Desai of G7 said,"I was forced to increase the ticket rates but people could hardly afford it. I used to charge Rs 130-Rs 120, but last week, during the release of Billu, I reduced the cost by half; now the rate is between Rs 65 and Rs 85."

Fame Adlabs has always had a lower rate than others. Shunali Shroff of Fame said, "Our tickets come for Rs 50 to Rs 250. For reclining seats, we charge Rs 250, otherwise Rs 200 is the highest price."
