Want to watch the IPL matches on the big screen? Here is a reason to cheer. Now, you can enjoy your favourite matches at your nearest multiplex for just Rs 150 to Rs 200.u00a0
u00a0It is likely that city's multiplexes - Inox, Cinemax and PVR u00e2u0080u0093 will screen at least one IPL match a day, during the 45-day tournament starting from April 10. According to sources, a decision on the commercial terms and agreements of IPL matches across multiplexes is close to being worked out.
However, last year there were no takers among the multiplex operators because they were asked to pay a huge amount to screen the matches compared to the nominal license fee. Also, the IPL had laid a negative impact on the multiplex business.
Fearing that no distributors will release any movies during the IPL like year, multiplexes have decided to dedicate one screen for IPL matches. "There is a high possibility of IPL matches to be screened at our multiplex at an affordable rate. We have earlier screened World Cup matches in our theatres and have received a marvellous response from patrons," said Rakesh Sharma, general manager of Cinemax, Sion.
Sharma feels that the screening of IPL matches will not only bring them huge business, but will also help the IPL. "We don't mind screening the match, as we can dedicate one screen for the same. But we want the tickets rate to be nominal," added Sharma.
Sources said corporate sponsorships are being worked out so that ticket prices can be kept at a competitive rate.
