A retired army officer has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl in his car. According to the police, after he was arrested, the 78-year-old threatened the survivor's mother and asked her to take back her complaint.
The accused, identified as Sudhir Prakash Arora (78), is a resident of Malad (East), and was friends with the survivor's mother, who lives nearby. According to police officials, around 8 pm on Saturday, Arora offered to take the girl out for a drive in his car. After driving around for sometime, he stopped the car in an isolated place, where he performed oral sex on the 10-year-old. After half an hour, Arora dropped the girl to her house.
The girl narrated the incident to her mother, and she registered the case at Samta Nagar police station. The accused was arrested the same night. Sources at the police station said that yesterday, the accused sent a man to the girl's house and threatened her mother, telling her to withdraw the complaint. The mother informed the police about the man's attempt to threaten her.
Arora has been booked under Section 354 (A) of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and will be produced in court today.
