The actor had met the CM earlier in March and shown interest in helping the scheme. "I appreciate Mr Khan's support to the mission which will help us mitigate drought situation in affected areas. His gesture will go a long way and encourage resourceful people and institutes to contribute to our sincere cause," he told sunday mid-day on Saturday.

Khan is the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF and brand ambassador for the Incredible India campaign of the Union Tourism Department. Sources say that Khan will actively participate in creating public awareness for the water conservation mission, which extends to 6,202 villages in six districts.

Earlier this month, Patekar and Anaspure gave away Rs 24 lakh - cheques of Rs 15,000 each to over 120 farmers' widows in Marathwada and Vidarbha. The two have now planned to raise additional funds to implement a sustainable scheme to help the widows and their children fight the odds.
