Mumbai: Cops to seek Kasab's remand

Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist arrested in the November 26 terror attacks in Mumbai will be further remanded to produced before a magistrate for extention of remand in one of the twelve cases that have been charged against him.

On January 19, the magistrate had extended Kasab's police custody to Feb 2 in the CST firing case. Before that he was remanded in police custody on January 4 for his involvement in the shootout at the Cama and the Albless Hospital in south Mumbai.

Kasab has been in police custody since his arrest on the night of November 26 and has been booked in 12 cases by the city police. He has been remanded in custody for two cases out of the twelve cases charged against him by the Mumbai police.

Due to security concerns, Kasab will not be produced in the court, as it has been done in the earlier occasion.

Additional Metropolitan Magistrate N Shrimangale and Additional Public Prosecutor E B Dhamal have been going to the Crime branch headquarters at the Crawford Market for the hearing and also the medical tests are conducted at the headquarters before the hearing
