There was no prior intimation about water cut.

Residents faced a lot of problem as most of the area receives water during early morning hours. A resident, Bharat Jain from Naigaon, Dadar East said, "Since there was no information about any repair work we did not save much water. If we could have been alerted about possible cut or no supply then it we would have saved some water for today also."

According to the officials, the supply will not be restored atleast till 4pm subject to the repair work being completed . On Friday, BMC officials from the Water Department got to know about the leakage in a 1200 mm Old Tanasa Pipeline at Sant Jagnade Chowk in Lalbaug. However, when they started repair work they found big crack below the pipeline.

Speaking to mid-day, Chief Engineer of the Hydraulic Engineering Department, Ashok Tawadia said, "When our team inspected the pipeline we found a big crack. Since it is very old (about 100 years) we had to stop the supply and replace the damaged part of the pipeline. As of now, we have removed that part from the main pipeline and now we will start fixing a new part in that portion. We are expecting this to be completed by 4pm until which there will be no supply in few parts of the city. Once the repair is over we will supply the water in areas that missed in morning."

After getting an alert from the BMC adminstration, BJP corporator from Matunga, Nehal Shah has also spread the message to residents to avoid wasting water until the supply becomes normal. "We got a message about 4am in the morning about the water cut in Matunga and nearby areas. The supply will be restored by the evening."
