Aarey police has launched a massive manhunt to nab a 25-year-old man who has been accused of raping a minor girl in Goregaon.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when the man, yet to be identified, asked for a glass of water from the 14-year-old.

Though the survivor did not know the accused, he claimed to know her parents and presented himself in such a way that the minor believed him. As she went to the kitchen to bring a glass of water, the accused bolted the door from inside and forced himself upon her, in front of her siblings, aged 9 and 10.

Before leaving, he threatened the girl of dire consequences if she dared to go to the police. The minor, who is in Std X, shared her ordeal with her mother, a home guard at Andheri GRP. An FIR was lodged later that evening. "We have registered the FIR under section 376 of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO). We have drawn sketches of the accused," said an officer of the Aarey police station.
