After mid-day's report revealing how citizens were deprived of the 10-acre Pramod Mahajan garden in Dadar due to a tussle between BMC departments, the park was finally thrown open yesterday

There in spirit: The park is named after the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, who - along with the late Sena supremo Bal Thackeray - seemed to be there at the inauguration on Sunday, if only in spirit
This came 11 days after mid-day revealed how the garden had remained closed to the public for eight months due to a tussle between BMC departments (â10-acre garden in the heart of the city is ready, but you can't go there', April 22).
Paying homage: (From right to left) The CM and the Mahajan family (Rekha and Poonam) pay their respects at the late Pramod Mahajan's memorial at the park as other political leaders watch. Sena heavyweights turned up in strength yesterday; amongst those present were party leader Subhash Desai, MLA Sada Sarvankar and MP Rahul Shewale.
"I would like to thank mid-day for highlighting the issue. Mumbaikars will now get to avail of one of the largest open spaces and green lungs of the city," said the late leader's daughter and MP Poonam Mahajan.
Nature and nurture: Pramod Mahajan's widow, Rekha, and the CM water saplings at the park in a symbolic gesture
The park was thrown open by CM Devendra Fadnavis yesterday. The event was attended by the Mahajan family (notably Pramod Mahajan's widow, Rekha, daughter and MP Poonam, and son Rahul).
