Mumbai: Property consultant commits suicide to escape financial ruin

The 65-year-old was found hanging in his office with a note in his pocket, which stated that he had taken the extreme step as he was unable to pay his many debts


Unable to face crippling debts, a 65-year-old property consultant hanged himself in his office in Borivli (West) late on Wednesday night, and was found by his business partner the next morning.

The police found a suicide note in his pocket blaming financial ruin for the extreme step. The deceased was identified as Sudhir Bhosle, a Yogi Nagar resident who started a property consultancy at the Ajanta Shopping Centre a few years ago.

The police supect he had invested all his savings into the business and had begun to despair when he couldn't pay off the many loans he had taken. Around 11.30 am on Thursday morning, his business partner Vinayak Pawar found Bhosle hanging from the office fan, and the police was informed.

"We found a suicide note from his pocket, which stated that he had committed suicide as he had taken loans from many people but he was not able to repay them. We have informed his family about the incident and sent his body for the post-mortem," said Senior Inspector Narayan Khaire of Borivli police station, adding that Bhosle is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
