Mumbai: Two goons attack cop at Sion station with iron rod

An on-duty constable attached with the Dadar GRP, Sudhir Hanumant Jatar (32), was attacked by two local goons at Sion station, at around 7 pm on Wednesday


An on-duty constable attached with the Dadar GRP, Sudhir Hanumant Jatar (32), was attacked by two local goons at Sion station, at around 7 pm on Wednesday.

An officer from Dadar police station said, "Jatar was posted at platform number 2 of the railway station when these two arrived and attacked him with an iron rod. They didn't even speak to the constable; they just came and hit him on his head." The constable was taken to Sion Hospital.

He received five stitches for his head injury and was released after the treatment. Railway Commissioner of Police Madhukar Pandey said, "We are yet to ascertain the facts and the motive behind the attack. We are trying to get details on the incident as the constable is on sick leave currently."

The two unidentified accused have been booked under Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty), and 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter a public servant from his duty) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
