A 32-year-old woman died after being hit by a water tanker in Kalina area of suburban Santa Cruz today, police said. The accident occurred near CST Road at around 3:30 PM when Chandani Vishwakarma was crossing road when a water tanker knocked her down, a senior police official said.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead before admission, he said. The deceased was a resident of Saat Rasta in suburban Mahalaxmi. The tanker driver, identified as Mahesh Gautam (25), was arrested under sections 304 (a) (causing death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC, the official
said.
Vakola Police have seized the tanker.
