A school van driver who had sexually abused a five-year-old girl in Bandra in 2-17 was sentenced to five years imprisonment by a special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Friday.
According to the complaint registered with the Bandra police, the parents of the minor had hired the services of the accused to pick up and drop their daughter from school, said a report in Hindustan Times.
The minor first approached her mother on March 27, 2017, that the driver used to tease her. The family on March 29 confronted the accused and asked him to not tease the girl and be careful.
When the girl returned home in the evening the next day, she was frightened and had stretch marks on her back. When the mother asked the girl about what happened, the latter told her that the accused used to take the van behind the school after dropping other students and sexually abuse her.

The girl also added that the accused had done this on several occasions and threatened her that if she revealed it to anybody, he would kill her mother.
The driver was held guilty of sexual assault by a POCSO court.
