The city - sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce
Candid Crush
Justice Markandey Katju does not mince his words. Be it challenging the MNS goons to go fight with him or expressing his amorous side. The retired Supreme Court judge had his little moment yesterday when he tweeted to Gul Panag, "Ma'am, I saw u in the Miss Universe contest on TV many years ago, and have had a crush on you ever since."
Panag gracefully accepted the compliment and replied that she was a great admirer of the man too. But that's not how conversations end online. While the trolls did what they're known for, there was a barrage of more interesting responses. Someone wondered whether it was Katju or his nephew who'd hacked into his account.
Another asked if it was Jack Daniels or Chivas that was talking. Yet another fellow dug into Katju's earlier posts and pasted on his wall the one where he'd said he found Jayalalitha very attractive while wishing her a speedy recovery. Well, that's one account that never fails to amaze us.
Is it just the festivities?
We wouldn't have got thinking had this been another year or had this house belonged to someone else. But this Diwali, Halekai, Ratan Tata's abode by the sea in Colaba, was illuminated with all these brilliant lights. Of course, 'tis the season, still we can't help but wonder if this is just for Diwali or the cheer at having eliminated a challenger.
Desi chefs cruise Down Under
Australia, thanks to its hugely popular food reality show, is a favourite holiday destination that many Indians wish to visit now just for the food. So, how can the chefs be behind?
Celebrity chef Kunal Kapur is in the country for the same reality show's Indian edition. And it seems, he has fallen in love with Sydney - the weather, the Opera House et al.
Fellow chef Ranveer Brar, too, has been chronicling his journey Down Under, though Melbourne is what seems to have fascinated him. Brar has been savouring the street food, sipping on some of the city's best coffees and meeting his Australian counterparts for some interesting knowledge sharing.
Who's the funniest of them all?

Murder mysteries
It was a series of murders and the brutality with which they were committed that had sent shivers down the spine of Mumbaikars.
A file picture of Palande being produced in court
As the drama unfolded, it spared no one - politicians, the underworld, Bollywood. Until the involvement of Vijay Palande and Simran Sood, and their sinister modus operandi came to fore, the city and the nation tracked the news with bated breath.
Those fateful 21 days of April 2012 have now been chronicled by journalist Puja Changoiwala in her book, The Front Page Murders. All set for the launch this month, the scribe recounts the sensational case the way she saw it from close quarters.
No controversies here
It's been a rough patch for Karan Johar lately, what with all the threats to ban his movie, his apology video, the '5 crore penalty and now the Mohammad Rafi dialogue. But looks like, Twitter has found a way to perk him up.
With the new season of his television talk show about to air soon, the micro-blogging site launched an emoji yesterday, which is a replica of the mug he gets his guests to sign at the end of the show. So, viewers can tweet using this piece of digital merchandise, and promote the show for free. Now, that's smart!
