The services on the 11.04 km Versova Andheri Ghatkopar metro line one will remain suspended for seven and half hours on Sunday as the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) would carry out a statutory safety inspection on the 11.4km Mumbai Metro One corridor connecting Versova with Ghatkopar.

The safety inspection would be in connection with proposed increase of maximum speed of Metro trains from 50KMPH to 80KMPH. During the exercise there would be various trial runs for the CMRS to check Mumbai Metro's preparedness to increase the maximum speed to 80KMPH.

In a bid to ensure smooth and efficient safety exercise by the CMRS, it has been decided to keep the commercial services suspended between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm on Sunday. "We regret inconveniences to the commuters due to the statutory requirements, which are intended for better commuter services. We are communicating the information to our commuters through various means such as public announcements, signage at the strategic points in and around metro stations social media etc." said a MMOPL spokesperson.
