Mumbai: 21-year-old woman kills self by jumping off building terrace

A 21-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of her building in suburban Andheri on Thursday. The police are still unsure as to why she committed suicide

A 21-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of her building in suburban Andheri today, the police said. Varsha Yadav, a resident of the SRA building in Chandivali area of the suburb, plunged to her death at around 5:30 pm, a police official said.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital by the residents of the building, where she was declared brought dead before admission. As per preliminary investigation, Yadav, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was staying with her brother, who works for a pharma company.

She came to Mumbai only two months ago, the official said, adding the trigger behind Yadav taking the extreme step is being investigated. "We are recording statement of her brother to dig out information about the deceased," the official said.
