A human skeleton was found at a deserted spot near Mulund railway station on Sunday. The railway police discovered the skeleton near the Narpoli bus stop, which is close to the tracks. It has been sent to JJ Hospital but authorities are yet to identify whether it is male or female.
Locals informed the railway police about the human skeleton late Sunday afternoon after they spotted it in the bushes near the railway tracks, which had grown during the rainy season. Railway police officers reached the spot and recovered the skeleton. The matter is being investigated by the Kurla Government Railway Police.
ADR registered
Senior police inspector Anil Walzade of Kurla GRP said, "The skeleton was sent to JJ Hospital for observations and to find out whether it was of a man or a woman. We have registered an Accidental Death Report in the matter."
"We are trying to find if the skeleton or a body was dumped at the spot because it is deserted. There are possibilities that the skeleton could be of an old body. Once the details of the scientific report are made available, we will scan the missing persons' records and further inquiries will follow," said a source.
JJ Hospital Dean Dr. TP Lahane said, "It will take about six weeks for the reports to be available and then it will be handed over to the investigation authority. We are yet to identify if the skeleton that has been recovered is a male or a female."
