In the Mumbai University senate meeting held on Wednesday, the university tabled their budget for the coming academic year and have predicted a deficit of Rs 76 crores.
The budget states an income of Rs 388 crore for the academic year 2015-16 and expenditure standing at 465 crore, which might lead to the deficit. However, officials stated that this deficit can be avoided as well.
The other features highlighted at the senate meeting on Wednesday included setting up of a new Women's Development Cell, keeping in lines with the importance for the same given by University Grants Commission (UGC) over the past few months.
Similarly, the MU Vice-Chancellor has also agreed to appoint a grievance committee for teachers, and that special attention will be given to the examination section, to improve the technology used during examinations.
