However BMC officials on Saturday claimed that they had issued notices not only to the building that collapsed but also to the chawl residents. BMC officials reiterated that only if the family staying there had vacated the apartment in time, the crash could have been avoided.

When sunday mid-day tried to speak to Sindha Shreedharan, she did not comment. A relative of the family said, "We are aware of the allegations coming our way and we will answer everything but not now."
