Milind Bhatt has more than 10 cases registered against him across the country and the fake ID that Bhatt made which he used to dupe his clients

According to the police officials, Milind Bharatkumar Bhatt was arrested last week from Manali, where he had been hiding after duping a cameraman from a well-known media house in Mumbai. Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Gaikwad from Sion police station said, "Bhatt has been duping people using the same modus operandi since the past two years. He duped two famous media houses.

One complaint was registered with our police station while the other was lodged with a Delhi police station." The cops say that the accused is a resident of Vile Parle, where he has been staying with his parents, adding that he and his wife are about to part ways.

Gaikwad added, "Two years back, the accused was facing a lot of family problems. His wife and parents couldn't get along well, so he had decided to live separately. Later, he picked up R10 lakh from a moneylender. Due to the constant pressure of returning the money, he decided to start duping people."

After coming up with a plan, the accused started looking for individuals who wished to rent out their high definition cameras. He contacted them and picked up their cameras on the guise of being a creative director at Discovery Channel. With the arrest of Bhatt, the cops have been successful in detecting 10 cases registered against him.

These include six in Mumbai, two in Chennai and one each in Goa and Delhi. Goods worth Rs 13.75 lakh have also been recovered from the accused. "I even got information that after a few complainants approached the Discovery office, the channel registered a case against Bhatt for misusing their name, as he even carried a duplicate identity card of the channel," said Gaikwad. The accused has been booked under Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code and remanded to police custody.
