The greed for merely Rs 10 proved to be very expensive for 76-year-old Ruby Jahani as she ended up losing valuables worth Rs 2.40 lakh in the process.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when Jahani, an Andheri resident, went to Crawford Market for shopping. Two bag lifters asked her whether the Rs 10 note lying next to her car on the road belonged to her.

The moment, Jahani leaned out of her vehicle to check, one of the accused slyly picked up her bag that contained valuables worth Rs 2.40 lakh and fled from the scene.

An officer from LT Marg police station said, "The victim had asked her driver to get her some juice. Witnessing that the senior citizen was alone inside the car, one of the accused diverted her attention while the other seized her bag
and fled."

The unidentified accused have been booked under Sections 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian penal Code, while several teams have been formed hunting for the accused.
