The Parksite police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly raping and beating up a 36-year-old woman in a plush society in Vikhroli.
According to the police, the complainant is a divorcee and she befriended the man, a resident of Versova, during her visit to a five-star hotel six months ago. The accused worked as a receptionist at the hotel.
"On Saturday night, the alleged accused messaged the woman and invited her to an event at Lower Parel. They then went to a pub, where a few of his friends joined them. After partying, the alleged accused invited the woman to his friend's house in Vikhroli and they reached the place around 3.30am," a police officer from Parksite police station said.
Police said after the party, the accused dropped the woman home. However, the next day, the woman told her father that her friend had sexually assaulted her after which they filed a complaint with the police.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that they were in touch with each other for the past six months. She alleged that he assaulted her inside the flat and also hit her in the cab.
"We arrested the accused from his home," Shekhar Tawde, ACP (Vikhroli division) said. "He has been booked under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 376 (rape) if the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was produced in court on Monday and sent to police custody till November7," Tawde said.
The society where the incident took place houses many top police officials and businessmen. When the cops arrested the accused, his father suffered a heart attack and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Andheri.
