Recounting the event, the 16-year-old girl, who studies in Std XI in a Ghatkopar college, said that she went to college on Thursday as usual, and was standing outside the premises studying for her exams.
Suddenly, a girl dressed in a burqa approached her and asked her to come aside.
However, as she was busy, the teenager refused to do so.
Later, the same girl walked up to her and then handed over a letter to her.
The girl did not pay any heed to the letter and put it in her bag.
"When she returned home, her mother found the letter, in which the accused had written, âI am the red bike guy who has been following you since long. I wanted to say this to you that âI love you'. I love you, very, very much'. Scared, mother and daughter approached the Ghatkopar police station and filed a complaint," said an officer from Ghatkopar police station.
The officer added that the teenager, in her complaint, said that the man had a red bike.
He also said that the man had been booked under Section 509 ( Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
Officials added that based on the teenager's description, a sketch had been drawn up, and that they were now hunting for the culprit.
