P Velrasu, KDMC commissioner, recently held a meeting for this with Sanjay Shinde, Kalyan's DCP, and senior inspectors of eight police stations in the jurisdiction.
Then, the police and KDMC on August 13 started the system at Dombivli, Tilak Nagar, Manpada, Vishnunagar, Bazarpeth, Khadakpada, Mahatma Phule, and Kolshewadi police stations.
"One cop along with officials from KDMC, fire brigade, MSEB and traffic department will be present at the platform at every police station," said a senior official from KDMC. Mandals will receive their permission letter within two days of applying for it at these windows.
The police and KDMC have also formed four-member squads to check whether mandals are violating the rules. "Each squad will take two police stations under its jurisdiction and monitor the area. [Violators] will be booked accordingly," added the official.
