Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will be arrested on his return from Dubai in connection with the 2007 assassination of two-time prime minister Benazir Bhutto, said a state investigator on Saturday.
The former Army chief is also charged in the murder of a nationalist tribal elder Nawab Akbar Bugti in 2006 in Balochistan province, Chinese agency Xinhua reported. Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan from 1999-2008, has been living in exile for three years in Britain and the UAE. He recently announced that he would return home by January 27. On Saturday, his wife Sehiba Musharraf submitted an application in court, requesting a review of its earlier order to declare Musharraf a proclaimed offender. On Friday, in Dubai, Musharraf said he would face the court after his arrival in Pakistan. Prosecutor for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Chaudhry Zulfiqar said that orders had been issued to confiscate Musharraf's property as he had failed to appear in the court and answer questions about his government's failure to protect Bhutto.
