from his regiment in Srinagar since November 3. (Inset) MiD DAY had
published the story on Jan 29, about how his senior in Marol was forcing
Shukla to polish his shoesEarlier, MiD DAY had reported ('NSG commando called to Delhi', Jan 29) that Shukla, on January 11, had written to the Director General of the NSG in New Delhi, (copy available with MiD DAY), complaining against Major Mohammed Israil of Marol unit, for treating him and his colleagues as slaves. In his letter, Shukla had stated that they were made to shine their superior's shoes, do the laundry and run sundry errands, befitted for a domestic help. He had even requested for a posting at Srinagar's 144 regiment.
According to Sudha, her husband had left their MIDC house on September 1 to join his duty. However, just a fortnight ago, she received a call from her hometown in Allahabad that Om Prakash had gone missing, and if in case he was at home, should report to duty immediately. Sudha added that each time Om Prakash left his regiment; he would call her informing her about his whereabouts. However, for the last two months, she hasn't received a single phone call from Om Prakash.
"For the past few days, I've been receiving calls from the CRPF officials, informing me that my husband has gone missing. They officers have even lodged a missing person's report with the Srinagar police. We had a conversation before he went missing. I am scared that he must have been shot by the terrorists or must have been taken as a hostage. With Shivam (6) and Shreya (4) at my side, it's impossible for me to lock them up and go in search of my husband," bemoaned Sudha. "However, I want to contact NSG superiors, and seek their help in tracing my husband."
