The Navi Mumbai Police has nabbed six people for being allegedly involved in forging surety documents before multiple courts in the city.
According to a report in Indian Express, the anti-extortion cell of the Navi Mumbai Police got information that the accused named Diwakar Jaiswal was allegedly involved in preparing fake copies of important documents like Aadhaar card, ration card, PAN card, driving licences, etc. These fake documents were used as submission for surety, which is needed for securing bail in criminal cases.
The Indian Express report stated that to nab the culprit red-handed, a cop was sent posing as a customer to Jaiswal, outside the court in Belapur. The later assured the policeman that he would prepare the required forged documents. "When he returned the next day with the forged documents, we arrested him. We seized with him multiple documents with photographs of one individual but with different names, including pay slips and identity cards of a private firm. He also had documents required in court, including rubber stamps of various police stations and government offices," an official from Navi Mumbai Police was quoted by saying as the paper.
Five others were also arrested in connection with the case. According to the police, the busted gang could be involved in over 400 cases of fake surety in different courts.
