Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has planned to inaugurate three hospitals at Nerul, Belapur and Airoli in the next four months
Looking at the recent rise in population in the satellite city, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has planned to introduce three civic hospitals at Nerul, Belapur and Airoli by the end of the year. The civic body has already inaugurated the out-patient departments (OPD) in Nerul and Belapur and the OPD service in Airoli is expected to commence from August 15.
The NMMC has already inaugurated the out-patient departments of Nerul and Belapur hospitals, which are expected to be fully operational in the next four months
While there are many private hospitals in the area, currently, civic-run hospitals for residents of Navi Mumbai are located in Vashi, Koparkhairne and Turbhe. The corporation has therefore decided to open 100-bed hospitals at Nerul and Airoli, while the Belapur hospital will have capacity of 50 beds.
Deepak Paropkari, chief medical officer, NMMC, said, "For now, we have started the OPD services at these hospitals. They will be fully operational within the next four months.
Residents of the area will not have to go far for their treatment now." Out of the three fully operational civic hospitals, Vashi can take 300 patients, while Koparkhairne and Turbhe have capacity of 25 beds each.
