The CBI has taken custody of Pintu Singh, who allegedly shot dead Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar and his driver.

Singh alias Mahesh Chaudhary, who is in the custody of Uttar Pradesh police, will be brought to Mumbai where he is likely to be produced before a court tomorrow.

He was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police last week in connection with the incident on June 3, 2006. Singh's involvement in the Nimbalkar murder case was revealed after another arrested accused Parasmal Jain in his statement to the police said that he had hired shooter Singh to murder Nimbalkar.

The CBI is also on the look-out of another shooter Chotu Pandey and BSP worker Kailash Yadav, who allegedly organised for the shooters.

Suspended NCP leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Padamsinh Patil was also arrested by the CBI on June 6 for allegedly ordering the murder and paying a 'supari' (contract killing sum) of Rs 30 lakh to Jain.

Patil, who is presently in CBI custody till June 20, was yesterday seen jogging and listening to music in the campus of CBI office at Belapur in Navi Mumbai.
