Masunda Talao, or Talaopali as it's popularly known in Thane, virtually has a mela in the evenings with toy sellers, chaat vendors and various other activities. One of the most sought-after attractions here is the horse-drawn carriage ride. Now, these Victorian-inspired carriages have gotten a 21st century twist with the addition of a 0.75 tonne air conditioner.
Opened last Thursday, enthusiasts continue to throng the spot to get a ride on this star attraction. Nadeem Ghulam Nabi Shaikh, the owner of the horse carriage, told mid-day, "I had seen a carriage like this in Surat being used in wedding processions. I thought we could have it in Thane as well. So, I got it made within a month."
Shaikh charges Rs 200 for a ride on Sunday and Rs 150 on all other days. The service is available from 6 pm to 11 pm.
