Smita Salaskar, wife of encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, who was killed in the 26/11 attacks has denied any plans to contest elections. She is understood to have told mediapersons that politics was the last thing on her mind.

Salaskar had met Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray at his residence on Saturday leading to media speculation about her foray into politics, and also her possible candidature from the Shiv Sena for the Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha seat.

However, there was no official confirmation from the Shiv Sena about plans to field Salaskar as a candidate from the party.

Besides ruling out plans to contest the upcoming elections, Salaskar also clarified that she had met Thackeray because he had called her to express condolence for her husband's death, and she wished to meet him, and not to discuss politics.
