After MiD DAY reported on the worst-affected roads in city, BMC completes revamp of one of them behind Almeida Park in Bandra

Nudged awake by the MiD DAY report that listed four Bandra roads as the worst-affected streets in the city, the BMC officials have swiftly completed the repairing work of one of themu00a0-- the potholed stretch behind Almeida Park. According to the H (west) ward office, the civic body has spent around Rs 4 lakh on filling the potholes on TPS3 and TPS4, as the stretch is called.

KR Constructions contractor Rawta Patel said, "In 2010, the entire H-ward road repairing work was assigned to us a few weeks before monsoon because of which work was done in a haste and potholes were not filled up properly. This year, however, we have been assigned the work for only a few roads in Bandra. Since the work was assigned early, it has been done in a better manner."

S N Sakpal, the assistant engineer of H-west ward, said, "We have begun our road repairing work from this Monday and there are 45 roads in Bandra on which we are going to work pre-monsoon. Some roads have been done and I assure you that the rest will be completed within a few weeks."

Taking a cue from the MiD DAY report that listed 12 worst roads of the city, MM Kshirsagar, the assistant municipal commissioner initially presented a list of 25 roads in Bandra that needed urgent repairing. Later, he added 20 more roads in the list where repairing work would be carried out before the monsoon sets in.

Bhavika Vacchani, resident of TPS4, said, "We are really thankful to MiD DAY as its report on the worst roads woke up the BMC officials and prodded them to carry out repairing work at the earliest. Roads here are better now."
