On March 3, Arun Brij Singh (42), the owner of Jai Jagdambey Kirana Store at New Mill Road, Kurla, registered an FIR at Vinoba Bhave Nagar police station, stating that the above items had been stolen from his store.u00a0

After investigation, police arrested two minors, identified as Gangadhar Shivaji Arote (15) and Vishal Vishwas Sakat (11), residents of Makadwala Chawl, Kurla, on Friday evening. The accused have admitted to their crime.
They claim that they stole only basic items for their family, out of poverty.

Arote, who belongs to a very poor family, said he stole basic items since his family could not afford them. He also confessed to having stolen from five other shops before, for the same purpose. This was the first such incident for Sakat.

"The minors used to enter the shop by climbing atop a tree and descending into the shop through the roof. They did not steal cash. We have sent them to Dongri remand home," said Arun Kumar Aigal, senior inspector, Vinoba Bhave Nagar police station.
