Around 60 job aspirants hailing from Nepal were left with a sour taste in their mouth when they realised their dreams of getting a job in a foreign land was all a lie.
The jobseekers lined up outside Powai police station to register their grievances. The aspirants said that a placement agency by the name of Solar Enterprises run by an Alex D'souza had promised them jobs in Canada, Australia in return for Rs 5 crore.
"Six months ago, I saw an advertisement in a Nepali newspaper promising a contract job in Canada and Australia as an employee at a plush hotel. I applied for the job and paid Rs 10 lakh in Nepali currency and submitted my documents to the agency. Now, they have disappeared with my money and documents," said Kumar Chandrabahadur, one of the many who had been duped.

According to the Powai police - who is now investigating the case - following the advertisement, the 60 job aspirants paid D'souza Rs 10 to 12 lakh each.
They added that on Thursday, D'souza had called 17 of them to the international airport stating that they were flying out for their jobs to Canada and Australia. However, when the 17 innocent victims reached the airport, they realised the con.
Fake visas
Vikas Nepali, another victim, said, "I was supposed to board my flight at 6:30 pm on Thursday. He informed me that the flight was delayed and I should wait at the hotel till he called me. He also told me not to call him and that's when I realised something was fishy. When I reached the airport, I found out that the visa issued to me was fake." The complainants allege that only the tickets were genuine rest of the travel documents issued by the accused had discrepancies due to which they were not able to board the flight.
"An FIR has been filed today. We are investigating the case," said Senior Inspector Bajirao Bhonsle, Powai police station.
Authorities added that they are also on the lookout for three more people who were involved in the scam including the manager of the placement agency, Kaushik Manubhai Doshi, who is untraceable at the moment.
Other partners Kamal Chaudhary and DB Rana are also wanted in the case.u00a0
