RJ Anjaan and TV personality Kim Jagtiani have been shortlisted to become an island caretaker at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia
A Radio One jockey from Bangalore, Anjaan, is in the running for what has been called by its promoters as the Best Job in the World. That heady label may not be an exaggeration for what this job comprises in becoming an island caretaker of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
The six-month contract beginning July ensures that the candidate stays on the breathtakingly beautiful Hamilton Island promoting the chain of islands.
TV personality Kim Jagtiani has also been shortlisted.u00a0
Anjaan said in his application, "I represent India. The job involves a combination of talking and travelling both of which people who know me will vouch runs in my blood! This is what I have been doing all my life." Anjaan was also required to make a video about himself. "I made a video in which I was swimming everywhere. I was swimming on the road, in the park, on a railway track, everywhere," he said.
Anjaan and Kim now need votes till March 24.
Anjaan said, "Every vote counts for even one drop goes on to make an ocean." That ocean hopefully will be where the islands of the Great Barrier Reef lie.
The Best Job u00a0u00a0in the World
The Best Job is the World is a Queensland Tourism initiative. The candidate works as the caretaker of Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef and exploring the islands of the Great Barrier Reef to discover what the area has to offer. The candidate has to report back on their adventures to Tourism Queensland via blogs, photo diaries, video updates, etc. The candidate will be paid A$150,000 (Rs 49.58 lakh).
