MNS chief Raj Thackeray was granted bail on surety of Rs 1 lakh. Earlier a Kalyan Court had remanded Raj Thackeray to judicial custody till July 13.


MNS chief Raj Thackeray was granted bail on surety of Rs 1 lakh. Earlier a Kalyan Court had remanded Raj Thackeray to judicial custody till July 13.

Raj was indicted for his party workers involvement in an attack on candidates appearing for the railway recruitment board's examination at Kalyan in October 2008

Earlier Raj Thackeray surrendered before the Kalyan court amid tight security. The police cordoned off the entire area near Kalyan court, forcing commuters to take a longer route to enter Kalyan station. Autorickshaws were also not allowed in the area, which created problems for daily commuters.

Bombay High Court had rejected the bail plea granted to the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief by a Railway court and wasu00a0 directed to surrender before the said court in Kalyan on June 29.
