A day after industrialist Ratan Tata's official Twitter handle retweeted a joke on PM Narendra Modi and Mukesh Ambani, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons took to the micro-blogging site on Saturday evening to announce that his account had been hacked and that the malicious tweet was wrongly attributed to him.
The tweet shared from the industrialist's official handle showed Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani and PM Modi together, with a caption that read, "Owner of Network 18 welcoming his employee to address people how (sic) cronies are going to halt inflation."
On Saturday, Tata, who has over six million followers on Twitter, tweeted from his restored account, saying: "Shocked that my Twitter account was hacked yesterday and a spurious malicious tweet was wrongly attributed to me... I regret the inconvenience that this malicious and wrongful action may have caused."
When mid-day tried to contact Tata's communications office to enquire if a complaint had been filed with the cyber crime department, they said that there wouldn't be any official statement in that regard. However, the cyber crime cell said that no complaint had been registered yet.
