The state ration card department has cancelled 7000 ration cards, which includes several high profile personalities such as Narayan Rane, Sachin Tendulkar, Aamir Khan, after they failed to fill up the computerised forms under a scheme that was started in 2005, according to a report in Asian Age.

The reports further stats that Shraddha Gaikwad a senior executive officer told that despite of repeated requests from their office many celebrities living in the posh locals of Bandra like Bandstand, Pali Hill, Carter Road, Mount Marry and Union Park in Khar had failed to respond.
As a result of this the office had no option but to cancel the ration cards.
According to the report there are many such celebrities from Lokhandwala and Andheri who have also lost their ration cards.
The delay in the filling up of the computersation forms has however, made ration card officers disillusioned and they feel that the process has lost its relevance and should be scrapped.
