MNS corporator Sandip Deshpande had rasied a point earlier this month stating that the hookah parlour 'Ustaadi' that Mayor Snehal Ambekar had inaugurated at Dockyard Road in south Mumbai had been served a notice for illegal construction by the BMC. The civic body is now in the process of prosecuting them under section 351 of the MMC Act.

On November 6, the Mayor had inaugurated the said lounge. According to a popular restaurant review website, this lounge had hookah available. Unaware of this, and also clueless of the fact that BMC itself had given a notice to the restaurant under section 351 of the MMC Act, the Mayor went ahead with the inauguration leaving Shiv Sena red faced.

On Tuesday, the E ward office demolished the entire restaurant citing irregularities. These included an illegal loft with seating arrangement among other things.

"The entire restaurant was demolished for illegalities," informed assistant commissioner of E ward Kishore Desai
