"Kunal has not been responding to my calls and messages. As a result, I have filed a complaint with IMPAA to recover the amount," said Agarwal.

In The Dark: Kunal Khemu says he had no idea that Agarwal didn't want to make a film with him

Kunal had been finalised for Overtake that was to be directed by Tanveer Khan and produced by Agarwal's Plus Entertainment banner.

The duo's earlier project was the Konkana-Irrfan starrer Deadline: Sirf 24 Ghante.

Lavish film

"But Kunal had his own vision of how the film would be. He wanted a leading director, a big name as director of photography and a well-known set designer.

Our budget would not have allowed this and we had told him about it. We could not make a lavish film starring Kunal Khemu," added Agarwal.

Incidentally, Kunal's film Superstar (2008), directed by Rohit Jugraj, was to be produced by Agarwal initially. However, after three months of working on the project, Jugraj took the film to another producer Ashtavinayak.

"He wanted Rohit to direct Overtake and made several demands. As a result, we had to scrap the project," explained Agarwal.

Publicity stunt

Said Kunal, "I am shocked by Agarwal's allegations. I hold him in great respect. How many times has he called me and I have not taken his calls? I can show my mobile bills as proof.

I last spoke to him two months ago and there was no inkling that he did not want to make a film with me. Why is he doing this to me? Maybe he needs publicity."

The actor added, "When he approached me, he wanted to sign me for a three-film deal. But I told him to finalise a script first and then rope me in.

But he was keen on signing me. Though there were some sittings, no script was finalised. I was waiting for him to get back with a fresh script."
