After Samajwadi Party leader and PhD guide in Jhunjhunwala College Drigesh Yadav went missing last Saturday, his family received a ransom call from his abductors on Wednesday.u00a0The kidnappers demanded a sum of Rs 5 crore in return for his release. Drigesh and his personal assistant Ashok Yadav have been missing since Saturday last week, after they drove off in a black Scoripio to help a certain Yadav, who had requested their intervention and assistance in resolving a domestic matter. Police sources in the Kurar Police Station said that the family had received the ransom call on Wednesday, further adding that they had managed to trace the call to Uttar Pradesh.

"The call was made from a land phone. The UP police are trying to track down the land phone from which the call came," said a police officer at Kurar Police Station. Meanwhile Brijesh Yadav, Drigesh's brother, requested privacy, saying that the family members were too disturbed to comment. On Saturday, Drigesh and his PA went along with a man who identified himself as Yadav, who claimed that his wife had eloped with Drigesh' acquaintance Pandey. The two drove off with the man, but have not returned since. Preliminary investigations had indicated that the abduction could be related to Drigesh's recently acquired plot in Boisar, which had run into financial woes.
