Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was on his way to Chicago in the US, to attend an Independence Day parade, was detained for over two hours at the Newark airport.
It is believed that King Khan was detained because of his Muslim surname.
Interestingly, SRK has been shooting for My Name Is Khan in San Francisco Bay. The film is about the victimisation of a Muslim couple in America post 9/11.
The US has become increasing hostile towards Muslims after the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers.

It is believed that the actor was recognised by his fans, who created a furore at the aipor after he was detained.
The actor was later released after the Indian Embassy intervened.
