Same rate for local, STD calls

Reliance Communications rolled out a Simply Reliance plan on its CDMA and GSM networks yesterday.

Anil Ambani, chairperson, Reliance Communications, called the plan a, "game changing move" because it has a single rate for all local and STD calls to any mobile or landline network, anytime, anywhere in India.

The plan entails a single rate of 50 paise per minute for all local and STD calls.

The rates are the same for SMSes.

Prepaid customers will have to purchase a one-time special tariff voucher for Rs 48 to enjoy lifetime validity of the plan whereas postpaid users can avail of the plan for a monthly subscription fee of Rs 99.

The company promises what it calls "seamless coverage" and "super digital voice clarity" ensuring that this puts a stop to the complaintsu00a0 of voice breaking during a conversation.

This is because it will be supported by RCOM's 3G-Ready network, helping coverage on major railway routes, national and state highways through mobile towers.

Reliance also promisesu00a0 access to TV channels, sports updates and websites like Youtube.
