A clerk working with a school in Pen taluka of neighbouring Raigad district was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths for allegedly accepting bribe in lieu of facilitating a co-worker's transfer to a preferred location, police said
Thane: A clerk working with a school in Pen taluka of neighbouring Raigad district was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths for allegedly accepting bribe in lieu of facilitating a co-worker's transfer to a preferred location, police said in Thane.
The accused, identified as Yuvraj Karankale (41), worked as a clerk with the school aided under the Integrated Tribal Development Program (ITDP).
The victim, who was to be transferred to another school, requested the accused to facilitate his appointment at a location of his choice, Thane ACB Deputy SP Sanjay Mohite said. The accused demanded Rs 50,000 from him in lieu of the favour, he said.
The victim approached the ACB, following which a trap was laid yesterday and Karankale was arrested while taking bribe amount of Rs 50,000 from him in the school premises, the official said.
A case has been registered under Prevention of Corruption Act, he said, adding further investigation is on.
