Demanding reopening of a city school which was allegedly shut for repair work, students and parents today held protests disrupting vehicular traffic at Peddar road in south Mumbai.

Hundreds of students and their parents gathered near the New Era school around 0830 hours leading to a traffic jam, police said.

School management wanted to shut down the school for repair work but the parents allege that it wants to shift the SSC students elsewhere and start another school offering international curriculum in the present premises, according to PTI.

The Supreme court had earlier this month asked the education authorities to sort out the matter immediately.
