Said Nalin Shah, owner of Shah Builders, "All my four buildings on Palm Beach Road are safe and stand tall. These are rumours and I strongly deny them."
In fact, it's a simple coincidence that prompted the flurry of e-mails. The Shanghai building, which collapsed on June 27, is located on Palm Beach River, while Shah's projects are on Palm Beach Road.

"The Shanghai building is 13-storeys, while none of mine are over seven. The comparison is ridiculous," added Shah.
He, however, stated that a week ago he had announced the demolition of the Bombay Mercantile Building in Vashi, he had bought about 18 months ago.
"I plan to construct either a five-star hotel or a hospital. But again, this doesn't have anything to do with the Shanghai crash," said Shah.

While on the Shanghai crash, architect Shabbir Khambaty explained, "The builder did not understand the notion of centre of gravity.
The foundation can be strong, but if the upper level of the building is not made properly the building can fall."
