On April 8, a 13-year-old girl Anu Gupta was allegedly kidnapped from her residence at Kandivali by four people on the behest of a tantrik baba from Nalaspara.
Anu's uncle Raju Gupta suspected a couple of neighbourhood girls, their boyfriends and a tantrik.
He said, "Few days before the kidnapping, my brother Pradeep had Rs 4.5 lakh in his cupboard. The tantrik and the other four told my neice that she would pass her exams and her father's business would prosper if she took the money from the cupboard and gave it to them. Being a child, my niece took the money and gave it to them."
When the Gupta family realised the money was missing, they asked Anu about it. After some coaxing, she revealed what she had done. Gupta added, "She named all the four and the tantrik. Later, we went and fought with them. From that day onwards Anu went missing."
The family has filed a kidnapping complaint at Samta nagar police station. The police have detained the relatives of the two girls.
