Thane builder's suicide case: High Court tells 4 TMC corporators to surrender

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday rejected the interim relief given to the four corporators accused in the builder Suraj Parmar suicide case, and told them to surrender before the Thane cops by Saturday.

Justice Ajay Gadkari, who was hearing the interim bail application of the four corporators, Najib Mulla, Sudhakar Chavan, Hanumant Jagdale and Vikrant Chavan on Tuesday, said the court was about to reject their bail plea, when their lawyer withdrew the application, saying that his clients were ready to surrender to the police but sought some time.

The court then asked them to surrender by 9 am on Saturday and till then told them to present themselves before the investigators between 11 am and 1 pm every day. "They have withdrawn their application of bail and agreed to submit themselves before the investigators," public prosecutor Raja Thakare told mid-day.

Builder Suraj Parmar had committed suicide on October 7 at the site of one of his projects. Parmar had written a 15-page suicide note in which he had accused the four corporators of harassing him, leading him to commit suicide but the names of the corporators were later scratched out. They were revealed only in the forensic report.
